The Legacy of Tradition and Quality

The Legacy of Tradition and Quality

At Reuer Ranch, we don’t just raise cattle—we nurture a tradition that has been passed down through generations.

Our story began in 1945, when Godlieb and Martha Reuer, driven by a deep love for the land and a commitment to the ranching way of life, established the ranch in Reliance, SD. This location still serves as the headquarters of Reuer Ranch.

What started as a humble operation has since grown into a thriving, family-owned ranching business. Though we continue to thrive, our core values have always remained the same: respect for the land, care for the animals, and  dedication to sustainable practices.

For generations, the Reuer family has cultivated the land, working hand-in-hand with nature to raise cattle that are healthy, strong, and cared for every step of the way. Godlieb and Martha taught us that ranching is more than a business—it’s a lifestyle. A lifestyle that demands patience, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to quality. The values of integrity, responsibility, and hard work were instilled in every family member, and we continue to honor those values today.

The Reuer ranch has been a testament to the harmonious balance between tradition and innovation through the generations. As the torch was passed from Godlieb and Martha to Richard and Viola Reuer, and eventually to Keith and Leslie Reuer, each generation has brought its unique touch while respecting the time-honored practices that have sustained this cherished land.

We have always understood the importance of being stewards of the land. This commitment is not merely about maintaining a business but about honoring the relationship between humans and the environment. By respecting the beauty of the land and preserving its resources, we ensure that the ranch remains vibrant and productive for future generations.

At Reuer Ranch, our cattle roam free on lush, open pastures, raised with the same care and dedication that our family has practiced for generations. We’re not just ranching—we’re preserving a way of life that has sustained us for over 80 years.

Keith and Leslie took their humble family ranch and turned it into a trusted name in local, quality beef. Alongside them on this journey is their daughter Rachel and her husband Ben. Keith and Leslie’s sons Bryce and Eric, are also a part of the Reuer Ranch legacy - the family-run operation where every decision is made with care and every animal is treated with respect.

Rachel and husband Ben have taken their family legacy in a new direction with the incorporation of Heritage Meat Company in 2024. Their dreams extend beyond the local community that Keith and Leslie currently serve, and aspire to bring their local beef to people across the United States. They envision Reuer Ranch becoming a symbol of quality and trust nationwide, where families everywhere can enjoy the rich, flavorful beef that comes from our dedication to tradition and quality.

We know that the beef we produce is a direct reflection of the land they care for, and we take pride in offering products that our customers can trust. Every steak, every roast, and every cut we provide is a product of that legacy—a reminder that family, hard work, and respect for the land will always be at the heart of what we do.
